Making of as a format brings a whole pot of opportunities for all parties involved: from creative developing home-studio, through client nailing the investment, to an established agencies hosting the production. For me it's always been an amazing source of insights and inspiration, a playground, a practice field putting my entire documentary skillset to the test.

Making of "Songs of Warsaw '44" is a tribute to poets fallen during Warsaw Uprising like Miron Białoszewski, whose lyrics sings Anna Maria Jopek to the music created in Peter's Gabriel studio. It's a promotional film but also an educational documentary created by advertising professionals for younger generations.

In making of "Eagles" I aimed to merge documentary format with a tv trailer editing techniques. It's a record of production observed as creative event - an energising meeting of filmmakers from California, New York and Warsaw. A display of passion and humour at work.

Making of "Allegro" is an emotional journey of people performing art as a part of their religious life. It's a documentary investigating hidden aspects of this extraordinary idea meeting advertisement and personal believes.

Editing Director

Post-production is the way I've chosen to exercise creative mind, feed my natural curiosity and practise the tools I need to understand as a director better before diving in my own projects. Initially it was a way of building confidence and then fluency by putting the skills to the test in various conditions each time accepting unique challenges attached to them. Thanks to my participation in projects presented here, I believe the border between roles I operate in, the editor and director gradually blur out.

Documentary Reel displays samples of work completed with three different type of creatives I usually meet. From a very experienced to those acting in a role by pure coincident and entering the process for the first time. The challenges included amount of footage and complexity ("Noisemaker") or opposite; shortages of the sources ("Meaningful Talks") or lack of creative practice ("Discovery Shorts").

Feature Reel is a selection scenes I edited and graded for the tv series "Fate". Thanks to the deadlines and enormous amount of footage this project put to the ultimate test my equipment, skills, planning and creativity. The format consists two elements documentary and fiction. In most cases it was shoot in extremely limited time however with great energy, passion and intention to experiment in post-production.

Life Music Reel currently includes a sample of 50 minutes radio concert I edited and graded autonomously from any creative producer. The challenges here included amount and variety of cameras used with random technical specs and short deadlines.

Advertisement Reel includes examples of projects I took on board as an editor, which required me to act significantly outside of the role, engaging in fields of stock footage researcher, motion and audio designer or shoot director.

Film Directing

Polish Film School in Lodz The Leon Schiller National Film, Television and Theatre School in Lodz (Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Filmowa, Telewizyjna i Teatralna im. Leona Schillera w Łodzi) is the leading Polish academy for future actors, directors, photographers, camera operators and television staff.

"We teach the film skills and give solid foundations for various types of filmmaking professions. Consequently, studies are based on intensive practice: acquiring experience on the film-set, learning the ropes, as well as the artistic and technical sides of the cinema-work. At the same time, we offer students an intensive broadening of their intellectual horizons and deepening of their knowledge of culture in a broad sense. Both theoretic and practical parts of the tuition programme serve to develop creativity, imagination and bold thinking without conforming to established patterns."

35mm Shorts Reel includes teasers of all three 35mm shorts I completed during my film directing studies.

"The Coal Heap" full version of 35mm documentary short. Warmly welcomed on many film festivals East and West of Europe. Greatly appreciated as one of 50 shorts on screen during the celebration of 50 Years Anniversary of Polish Film School in Lodz in 1998.

"The Doll Clinic" full version of 35mm feature short staring my father Roman Świtalski - artist, mentor and the first one-man band I've knew.

"Adam" full version of 35mm documentary short, my graduation movie, a picture about Lodz and one soul lost and found in the dark city.

S8mm Music Short "Hej Ruku Andi" by Joszko Broda (Beard) and his band "Kids with Beard" - Best Music Video for Children during Yach Film Festival in 2003. Scenography Józef Wilkoń, special guest star Wojciech Waglewski.

My tribute to all students, mentors, friends and family members who introduced to me S8mm technology and inspired me experiment with its magical abilities. A symbolic bridge between the analogue past and digital future of filmmaking.
